Part One: Personal Information

From an early age I have always wanted to study architecture at the Manchester School of Architecture, it is my local university and I have many friends and family who are studying at the university. It has a good reputation and  from what  I have heard a very good reputation for producing successful architects. I have spent the last three years studying construction and I now feel I am ready to progress with my education into a profession like architecture, as this is what I am most interested. I would like to expand my knowledge in more design work. I have a passionate interest in sustainability and new methods of communication such as BIM and animation architecture.

Below I have added two examples of projects I have drawn up using Building Information Modelling:

Part Two: Inspiration

In Manchester, where I live there are so many beautiful examples of architecture. The building I am most interested in is The Armani Building, The Avenue located in Spinningfields, Manchester. This building was designed by Shepard Robson Architects, the main reason why I feel so passionate about this building is because my father was one of the architects working on this project in 2005 and I took an avid interest in the design process of the project. While the design stage was being carried out, my father would come home with different sketches, plans and elevations of which he produced. I found it very educating following my father's work and when I finally went to view the finished project I wasn't surprised it won an award, presented by ‘British Council for Offices’.
Below is a sketch I have created of this building:
My favourite Architect is Renzo Piano, an Italian architect, owner of Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW). Renzo Piano inspires me with the majority of his projects of which he has designed dating back to 1977: with The Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France to last years (2012) Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum, Boston. Out of all of the vast projects he has covered over his career. The two of which stand out in my eyes are; London Bridge Tower also known as The Shard (the tallest habitable structure in Western Europe) and The New York Times Building
Below I have added an image of The Shard:

I have taken a keen interest in the whole process of the Shard, by reading articles, books and watching documentaries. I found the whole project fascinating  therefore over the summer term I am making it a priority to go visit and experience this amazing piece of architecture. I was inspired by the planning, design and construction of the Shard,  from the beginning of the story when the developer Irvine Sellar (Chairman of LBQ Limited) met Renzo Piano in Berlin where, over lunch, Piano sketched the initial ideas on a napkin. I also found it unusual, yet very effective in the methods the Shard was constructed; Contractors were constructing the substructure at the same time as the superstructure.
Below I have added a sketch I drew of the Shard:

Part Three: My Art Work:

The image below is a sketch of the Welsh valley's landscape, Moel Famau, Denbighshire.
The image below is a sketch of the entrance to Ruthin Castle, Ruthin, Denbighshire.
The image below is a black and white sketch of a city-scape view.
The image below is a sketch of another building in Manchester that I find very interesting: The Criminal Justice Building, Spinningfields, Manchester.
The image below is an interior view of a living room in a traditional domestic property.

In my free time I like to gain practice in drawing, so my father sets me drawing tasks. Below are two Site Plans I created for him: Stockport

I thought it would be appropriate for me to add some work created for my favourite subject in college: Graphical Detailing.
